The Cold Steel Recon Tanto 35AM is a large and cool fixed knife. Originally Cold Steel is known for its cool tanto’s. This Americanised blade shape, originally from Japan, has been optimised for its piercing capacity.
This Cold Steel Recon Tanto is enhanced with a remarkable blade made from San Mai VG10 steel. This means that the core of the blade is made from VG10 knife steel, laminated in between two layers of softer steel. As such you benefit from the hardness and the sharpness retention of the VG10 core while the softer parts absorb the blows. In addition, the San Mai technique leaves a nice laminated line on the blade, exactly on the transition between the two types of steel.
The handle is made from Kray-Ex. A rubber-like plastic that offers a lot of grip, even in wet circumstances. The sheath is in the style of Cold Steel’s Secure-Ex. Solid, plastic and perfect for both left and right-handed use. Very practical.
